In this Day and Age, it is almost impossible to avoid sexual temptations, it’s all around us, it’s unavoidable but the Bible says in (1 Corinthians 10:13) that God is faithful, and he will not let us be tempted beyond what we can bear. Though temptations are not avoidable, committing sexual immorality is, we must understand that we are destroying God’s temple when we commit any kind of sexual sin. (1 cor 6:13-20) we can be free of sexual sin in this generation through the grace that God has made available to us.
Seven Ways to Avoid Sexual Sin
Detect
- Search your heart (Psalm 51:3), Acknowledge your sins (1 John 1:9), and Repent of them (Psalm 32:5)
- Dig deep and see if you have the tendency to commit sexual sin
- Dressing seductively
- Flirting
- Watching porn or nude magazines
- Reading erotic and romantic novels

Destroy
- Destroy the flesh (Sanctification), Matthew 26:41,1 Thessalonians 4:3, 2 Tim 2:21, Galatians 2:20
- Ask for the Holy Spirit to dwell within you
Determine
- Just like Daniel and the Hebrew brothers (Dan 1:8),( Jeremiah 35:6)
- Have a Made up Mind (job 31:1)
- Train yourself to resist sin
- Reward yourself when temptation comes and you overcome
Distance
- Get away from your triggers, from things and situations that get you to commit sexual immorality( 2 Timothy 2:22)(1 Corinthians 6:18)(Proverbs 1:15)
- Nightclubs
- Bad friends
- Bad TV shows
- Bad Magazines
- Bad Music
- Bad Novels
- Be Sober (1 Peter 5:8)
- Be rid of substance( alcohol, drugs)(Ephesians 5:18)
- Stay “Woke” (1 Thessalonians 5:6-8)
- Be like Joseph (Genesis 39:12)

Dwell
- Get with people of like faith and keep busy with the things of God (Psalm 26:8)
- Be a worker at church or in the Youth/Young adult planning committee
- Accountability partner (proverb 5)
Delusion
- Take heed lest you fall 1 Corinthians 10:12
- Don’t depend on your own strength
