Faith, Love & Prayer Quotient

Faith Quotient

What is Faith? Hebrews 11:1 defined faith as the “substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen”.

“substance of things hoped for” :
This phrase suggests that there should be hope before faith. You have faith for an expectation. Even in a hopeless situation, you must find hope. Then find faith for what you hope. Most of the miracles in the bible resulted from those who found hope and had faith for that hope. The blind, woman with the issue of blood, lepers etc.

“Evidence of things not seen” Evidence – “a title deed”. Like having the title of a car that you have not seen. But you are sure you have it, because you already have the title in your hand. All you are waiting for is the arrival.

Why is faith important? Like Hebrews 11: 6 says; It is impossible to please God without faith.

What can faith do? Faith can do the impossible, control the invisible, command the inanimate, and conquer the invincible. Faith can turn the hands of time to your favor. Remember the Syrophenician woman? Jesus would not heal her. It was not the time for Gentiles. But She spoke in faith, and fast forwarded her miracle.

What is your faith quotient? You cannot have faith and have doubt. Faith and Doubt are mutually exclusive. Either you have faith or you don’t. Unbelief is the absence of faith. And unbelief impedes the move of God. Jesus could not do much in his own country because of unbelief.

Another common of FAITH is – Forsake All I Trust Him. That is, you leave all in the hands of God over a situation. You are not trying to help God to do what he has promised he will do.

So then, Where is the place of works? Because the bible says Faith without works is dead. Works is just obeying the instructions God has given you by faith. So Abraham had to leave his home, circumcise himself, Pick Isaac up with sticks to sacrifice him. Those are works. As a student, you have faith that you will succeed in your examination, but you have to read and prepare (works). But now you read according to the direction of the Holy Spirit. So you even need faith to achieve the works.

How you do increase your level of faith? Every believer has faith. But you have to exercise it to grow. Just like everyone has number of muscles in the body. But their prominence depends on how you work out. So there is little faith, great faith and then there is the gift of faith. (it has so grown that it manifest as a gift). Jude said “building up yourself on the most Holy faith”

You will also need to Read and Hear The Word. Romans 10:17. “Faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” Read the word, meditate on it, understand it, and apply it. Listen to messages on faith and put faith to work.

In putting faith to work, you will need to speak faith. The bible says if you “confess with thy mouth, and believe in thine heart…thou shalt be saved”. There is a voice of faith. What you confess matters. Confess faith always. The mouth and heart must be correlated in faith.

Learn from Abraham; the father of faith. God told him to sacrifice his son. But see what he said – God will provide a lamb for him. How did he know that? Did God reveal that to him? He was just speaking faith. And yes, that was exactly what happened.

May we all continually increase in Faith.

Love Quotient

“Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?” 37 And Jesus replied to him, “‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ 38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 The second is like it, ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself [that is, unselfishly seek the best or higher good for others].’H

What does Jesus expect from love?

Love the Lord with your heart, your soul and your mind. (Total being = Spirit, Soul & Body). The question is; does Jesus need me to do anything? Can I just say I love God and that’s it? Jesus said; He also said; “if ye love me, keep my commandments”. The commandments of Jesus are the commandments God through his word and through his Spirit. Believers are always led by the Spirit of God, and through his written word. Jesus also said “if ye love me, feed my sheep”. If you love God, you would serve God, and care for the well-being of others.

Jesus linked the second commandment quickly: “Love your neighbor as yourself.” Do you love yourself?

Another important question is: Who is your neighbor? In answering that, Jesus gave a very interesting story about the man who was wounded by thieves and the good Samaritan. In common words, Jesus was saying the farthest stranger is your neighbor. Look at the Samaritans and the Jews. There was obvious racial rancor, religious tension and gender unease among them, but Jesus still used those two as a prototype.

SoWhat is your love quotient?I Thess 3:12. “And the Lord make you to increase and abound in love one toward another, and toward all men, even as we do toward you”

Prayer Quotient

What is Prayer? Prayer is Communion with God, Engagement of Trinity, fellow-shipping with God and Connecting humanity with divinity. Prayers does not have to travel. The bible says that God is able to do exceedingly, abundantly above all we ask and think, according to the Power that worketh in us. Prayer travels as far as the power in you. Your ability to harness the power that works in you (the spirit of God) is what determines how much you receive.

Also, you do not pray through Jesus’ name. You Pray IN the name of Jesus.

Why do you need to Pray?

To Recognize his Lordship over you (Prayerlessness is a sign of Pride). Prayer helps to Reinforce your relationship with him (There is no relationship with communication). Prayer Renews your spiritual and physical strength (they that wait on God). It also Realigns you to his will (Keeps you in alignment – Jesus before the cross). It Restores and Repairs broken walls, bodies, souls.

Jesus had to pray for continuously for 3 hours when he saw what was ahead of him. There are bridges to climb, blessings to claim, borders to cross, battles to conquer.

What do you pray for? Pray for Personal Progress, Peace, Power, Promotion, Prosperity, Protection, Propagation of the gospel and the Pastors and other leaders.

How do you pray?

Paul said “Continue in Prayer” “Prayer without ceasing”. Pray Fervently. Jesus said “men always ought to pray and not to faint”, and Paul said “we reap, if we faint not”. So Prayer helps us to reap what we have sown.

Pray with Faith. Your prayer points depend on the level of your faith and revelation in God’s word. Compare Elisha and his servant. While His servant was praying in fear “What shall we do?”. Elisha was praying ; “Lord open his eyes”.

How do you increase your prayer quotient?Be intentional about your prayer life. Ask the Grace to pray. Depend on the Holy Spirit. Pray in tongues. (edified yourself) – Yeah pray with understanding, But there are some things you can’t understand in this realm, let the Holy Spirit do the prayers for you.

May God give you grace to Pray more. Amen.
